REVIEW OF APPLICATIONS: After the position posting period closes, all applications will be rated and a list of eligible applicants will be prepared. The list and the applications will be given to the Department Director. For Police Officer applications, the rating consists of a background check performed by the Investigation Division of the Ruidoso Police Department. Only those applicants who successfully complete this section will be notified.

SELECTION OF CANDIDATES FOR INTERVIEW: Because there are often numerous applications for a single position, time does not permit us to interview each candidate for the position. Only those applications sent to the Department Director will be called for an interview. If you are on that list, you will be contacted for a personal interview. It is important to leave a phone number where you can be reached or at least receive messages. If you do not return our call in a timely manner, you will be disqualified from the list to be interviewed.

If you are not selected for an interview, you will receive a postcard from the HR Department.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE INTERVIEW: After the interview, the interviewer will make a recommendation as to the chosen applicant. If you are that applicant, the HR Department will contact you and inform you of a job offer. The job offer is contingent upon you passing a physical exam, drug and alcohol screen, and a background check. If you are not selected after the interview, you will be notified by mail.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE REST OF THE APPLICATIONS: Once a vacancy has been filled, all applications become inactive in most cases. Inactive applications will receive no further consideration.
